Default Domeniul: .com a implinit 25 de ani
Domeniul de internet ".com" a implinit astazi 25 de ani de la prima sa utilizare, desi a inceput sa fie intens folosit si popular abia in anii '90.

Pe 15 martie 1985, prima companie care a adaugat domeniul ".com" la numele sau a fost producătorul de computere Symbolics. In prezent, circa 100.000 de site-uri cu domeniul ".com" sunt inregistrate in fiecare zi si exista aproximativ 86 de milioane de site-uri care folosesc acest domeniu. In 1985 au fost inregistrate la nivel global doar sase site-uri care utilizau domeniul ".com".

Mark McLaughlin, CEO al Verisign, compania responsabila de administrarea domeniului ".com", preconizeaza schimbari semnificative in felul in care va fi utilizat internetul.

In ultima jumatate a anilor '80 si la inceputul anilor '90 aproape nimeni nu stia ce este ".com", in timp ce in prezent acest domeniu face parte din viaţa de zi cu zi a oricărui utilizator web si este considerat emblema internetului.

Apropo de domeniul .xxx, se pare ca ICANN mai arunca inca o data un ochi asupra situatiei (momentan e inca neaprobat) dar... Plans for .xxx top-level domain pop up again

ICANN a aruncat de prea multe ori ochii peste tld-ul .xxx si de fiecare data a respins cererea. Nu cred ca o va aproba nici acum si nici in viitorul apropiat decat in cazul in care cineva mai "autorizat" va face request-ul.

Da, dar ce am zis eu e ca, deoarece tld-ul va fi detinut de o singura firma/persoana, in teorie ar putea fi considerat un domeniu nu doar un tld.
